Kativon Makary
Kat first worked as a research assistant for Just Futures through the Summer Research Opportunities Program. She is a 4th year Psychology student at California State University, Long Beach and plans to pursue a doctoral degree this fall in Community Well-Being at the University of Miami. Her passion is conducting community engaged research that involves marginalized groups as co-researchers who create transformative solutions to inequity. “To me working with refugee communities in participatory ways mean highlighting the expert insights they hold on unjust systems, and promoting the agency of these groups who actively resist oppression everyday.”
